SEC Enters into First-Ever Mutual Recognition Arrangement with Foreign Regulators in Australia

On August 25, 2008 the Securities and Exchange Commission entered into a mutual recognition arrangement with the Australian Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission that is the first of its kind, as the SEC has agreed to recognize a foreign regulatory scheme as a substitute for SEC regulation of broker-dealers and markets.
